About the Artist
I make mostly abstract art referencing landscape real and imaginary, using pigment and cut paper to weave together a textile remnant, an artifact representing the way each day, so similar and yet different, weaves our memories of a place. The weaving and layering creates not just a literal representation of place, but a sense of time and space as well. Symbolically, this is echoed in the way each of us must weave our personal history into our present and our future.
Amy Kaplan grew up along the CT shore, and its landscape continues to inspire her. In addition to creating and showing her original art around Fairfield County and New England, Amy is also an event planner, and produces local Pop-Up Gallery exhibitions and events. She is an elected member of Westport’s Representative Town Meeting, a former Board Member of the Ridgefield Guild of Artists, and a current Board Member of the Artists Collective of Westport.
